Pizza Day at Your School
March 11, 2019
Scattered throughout the school year are a number of vitally important days for kids that are often ignored by the rest of society. End-of-year tests are a good example, as are PA days, sporting events like track meets, and kid-centric holidays like Halloween, which in elementary schools feel like a cross between Mardi Gras and a state of emergency.
Then, of course, there is the Pizza Day. Many of us can remember Pizza Days from our own childhoods and the excitement around them has not subsided. From pre-ordering to delivery, Pizza Days are hotly anticipated events at Canadian elementary schools.
241 Pizza is proud to provide hot pizza lunches to schools everywhere in our service area. In fact, just like the students we serve, school Pizza Days are among our favourite days of the year. Here’s why you should call 241 Pizza to arrange the next Pizza Day at your school.
A Trusted Member of Your Community
241 Pizza was launched in Toronto in 1986 and has been serving school Pizza Day lunches ever since. During that time, we’ve come to understand that students need high-quality food and school administrators require flexibility, affordability and great customer service. We’re proud to deliver all of the above.
If you’re interested in organizing a pizza lunch for your school, contact the manager of your nearest 241 Pizza location; we have over 60 storefronts across Ontario, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Newfoundland and Labrador.
In Ontario, 241 Pizza is proud to comply with the Ministry of Education’s School Food and Beverage Policy, which stipulates that our menu meets nutritional standards, is reviewed by a registered dietician, and contains Ontario-grown and -produced foods when possible.
What Will Pizza Day Cost?
The cost of your 241 Pizza lunch depends on the specifics of your order. However, our managers will do everything they can to provide reasonable, affordable pricing. Bulk orders from 241 Pizza come with no delivery charges and free box pick-up; we also do not require pre-payment for your order.
The price of our 241 Pizza lunches will be negotiated at the start of the school year and will remain unchanged throughout.
Pizza Day Choices
241 Pizza’s full menu includes a range of choices, but our Pizza Day menu is slightly more restrictive. It includes cheese only, cheese and pepperoni, and cheese and veggie pizzas in either large or extra-large sizes. Our large pizzas are 14 inches in diameter and cut to 8 or 10 slices; our extra-larges are 16 inches in diameter and cut to 8 or 10 slices.
Most pizza contains wheat flour dough; our 241 Pizza sauce containing crushed tomatoes, water, salt, garlic and spices; 241 Pizza mozzarella cheese; and 241 Pizza dried cured pepperoni. However, we also offer a variety of alternatives for customers with dietary needs, including gluten free crusts (medium size only); vegan-friendly pizza; and halal toppings.

Celebrate National Pizza Day with 241 Pizza!
February 07, 2019
February 9th is National Pizza Day, an opportunity to recognize and celebrate the popularity of pizza in North America. National Pizza Day is one of two pizza-centric events on the calendar. The other, National Pizza Month, has occurred every October since 1984 when it was created by Gerry Durnell, then-publisher of Pizza Today magazine.
The origins of National Pizza Day are less well-known. It is unclear who started the event or when it was first observed. What is clear is that North Americans absolutely love pizza. Here are a few stats that demonstrate our commitment to the famous Italian flatbread dish.
According to a 2017 survey by California Pizza Kitchen, if Americans were forced to eat only one food for the rest of their lives, 20 percent would choose pizza. It was the runaway top choice. Roughly three-billion pizzas are sold every year in the United States, and Americans consume an average of 23 pounds of pizza annually.
Canadians are equally enamoured. A 2012 survey by Leger Marketing found that 88 per cent of Canadians enjoy quick-serve pick-up or delivery pizza from time to time, and that 33 per cent consider it their favourite quick-serve food item. Hamburgers (25 percent) and subs or sandwiches (20 percent) came in second and third.
The Leger Marketing survey also provides insights on how Canadians like to eat their pizza. For instance, the vast majority (91 per cent) prefer to enjoy it in the company of friends and family rather than alone. The survey also found that chicken wings are the preferred side order in Ontario, while bread and bread sticks dominate on the east coast and French fries reign supreme in Quebec.
In 2018, Canadian Pizza magazine asked pizzeria operators some revealing questions regarding their customers’ pizza preferences. The survey confirmed that wings are the top menu item aside from pizza, followed by salads, pastas, and sandwiches. As for favourite toppings, pepperoni lead the way ahead of bacon, mushrooms and ham. Deserts and garlic bread are the items most likely to be added to pizzeria menus.
241 Pizza has everything you need to celebrate National Pizza Day. Our extensive pizza selection includes classics like pepperoni, deluxe, Canadian, veggie and Hawaiian, and speciality pizzas like classic Greek, basil pesto, bacon cheeseburger and chicken club. We also serve savoury, deep-dish Detroit style pizzas for when you’re extra hungry.
Besides our range of pizzas, 241 offers a variety of appetizers and sides, including chicken wings, chicken chunks, fries, poutine, breadsticks, garlic bread, dipping sauces, salads, drinks, deserts and more. In other words, if you have National Pizza Day circled on your calendar, 241 Pizza is the place to be.
241 Pizza has been serving Canadians delicious, high-quality food for more than 30 years. With 60 locations across Ontario, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, and Newfoundland, 241 Pizza is your best choice for celebrating National Pizza Day on February 9th. Order pizza online at 241Pizza.com or through our mobile app or go the old-fashioned route by calling your local 241 Pizza location.
Your Guide to the Ultimate Pizza Party
December 18, 2018
Getting together with friends can be challenging during the winter. On the rare occasion that roads are clear and snow isn’t falling, the bitter winds and early sunsets make leaving the house seem like an ordeal. Why visit friends when you can curl up with your favourite streaming service and order online pizza delivery?
Of course, hibernation simply isn’t an option for the more socially-minded among us. If you love spending time with friends and family, you may be forced to lure your acquaintances out of hiding – and the best way to that, in our estimation, is to throw a once in a lifetime, too good to be missed pizza party!
Pizza Party Basics
Let’s get this out of the way, for those of you who are uninitiated: a pizza party is a social gathering at which pizza is served. (Shout out to Wikipedia for the exhaustive definition).
Pizza parties can take several forms, such as:
- The DIY Pizza Party: a gathering wherein attendees build and bake their own pizzas. A good idea at its core, but one which loses points because it asks guests to become chefs. Why not leave the high-stakes game of pizza baking to the pros?
- The Office Pizza Party: a nice way to get to know your coworkers, but a format marred by time restrictions and often-limited selection. Most companies are in the business of making money, not treating their employees, so don’t expect any specialty toppings. Plus, it’s always difficult to enjoy yourself with the boss nearby.
- The School Pizza Lunch: the undisputed highlight of any student’s year and a nice break for parents accustomed to packing lunches.
- The All-for-One Pizza Party: wherein a single person throws caution to the wind and orders a party pizza for him or herself. Absolutely no judgement on our end, we’ve all been there and enjoyed ourselves.
- The Tried, Tested, and True Classic Pizza Party: quite possibly the best of the bunch (although the all-for-one is alluring), the classic pizza party involves ordering a variety of pizzas, side dishes, drinks, and desserts to share with family and friends. Highly recommended for all pizza lovers, from pizza party newbies to grizzled veterans.
Reasons to Throw a Pizza Party
It’s winter time, but there’s still plenty to celebrate over the next three (or four, or five…) months. Office parties, for instance, are a staple of the season, as are school pizza lunches. By ordering a wide variety of toppings you can make sure that every taste is met, all dietary restrictions are considered, and nobody goes home hungry.
- New Years Eve
New Year’s Eve is the biggest party night of the year, so why not bring together friends for an especially raucous pizza party. Champagne and ballrooms have their charms, but if you want to avoid paying a premium to stand in line in sub-zero temperatures, celebrate with a tightknit group of besties and a few of your favourite pizza flavours.
Or, if you simply can’t resist the temptation of New Year’s Eve on the town, invite friends over for some therapeutic pizza the next day. A fresh, delicious slice or two is sure to take the edge off that mysterious headache you’re carrying around…
- Major Television Events
Notable television events are a staple of the new year: the Golden Globes kick off awards season in January, followed by the Grammy Awards and Academy Awards in February. Bachelor Nation is also keenly aware that a new season gets underway in the first weeks of the year.
Each of these events present an opportunity to have friends over for some drinks, bracketology, and a selection of fresh, delicious delivery pizza. Choose themed toppings and institute a dress code for a particularly celebratory vibe.
Pizza is the quintessential companion for big games, and the New Year is full of them. In January, cheer on Canada’s boys at the World Junior Ice Hockey Championship as they take on the next generation of NHL superstars on home turf.
A little later in the month, pretend you’re somewhere warmer and invite friends over to watch Roger Federer compete for his third straight Australian Open title from balmy Melbourne.
The NFL Pro Bowl, NHL All-Star game, and NBA All-Star game all take place early in the year, as does North America’s most-anticipated sporting event, the Super Bowl, which kicks of February 3. These are all prime opportunities to bring friends together for a pizza party and a few cold beverages.
- Life and Career Milestones
There’s always an excuse for a pizza party: birthdays, graduations, report cards, promotions, or any event you’d like to celebrate with loved ones will do just fine.
Keys to a Great Pizza Party
Once you’ve decided on a date for your delivery pizza party, it’s time to focus on what really matters: the food.
Not only should your party pizza be fresh and tasty, it should also be affordable, convenient, and come in a wide variety of flavours. 241 Pizza offers enough choices to satisfy every guest, from classic options like veggie, Hawaiian, and deluxe to more experimental flavours like classic Greek and chicken club.
The very best pizza party hosts don’t restrict themselves to serving pizza, either – feel free to offer a selection of classic and breaded wings; fries, poutine, and potato wedges; garlic bread and pizza knots; salads; and desserts, all available for delivery from 241.
Drinks are especially important. Beer is the traditional sidekick for pizza on game night, and champagne is an appropriate substitute during the Oscars, but it’s always important to offer a variety of non-alcoholic options such as soft drinks, bottled water, juices, iced teas, chocolate milk, or even energy drinks.
241 Pizza has everything you need to throw a successful pizza party
